Why are we so afraid to disagree?
Disagreement doesn't have to mean division. Maybe the conversations we're avoiding are exactly the ones we need.
THINK.
QUESTION.
DISPUTE.
An independent youth publication founded in Türkiye for people aged 17–30, exploring politics, society, science, culture, ideas and the world around us.
Disagreement doesn't have to mean division. Maybe the conversations we're avoiding are exactly the ones we need.
Why this exists
Young people are constantly talked about, represented and targeted by media. Disputia exists to give young people a space to speak for themselves.
Founded in Türkiye for people aged 17–30, Disputia explores the ideas, questions, cultures and issues shaping our generation.
We don't expect everyone to agree. We believe thoughtful disagreement can be a way of understanding the world — and each other — better.
The name
Inspired by the Latin disputāre.
To discuss, debate, examine and argue a point.
Disputia takes its name from the idea that disagreement does not have to divide us. Asking difficult questions and encountering perspectives different from our own can be how we learn.
